We’ve been to the mountain top!

In the late summer of 1998, two men climbed Daisy Mountain anticipating a meeting with the Lord.  What Bob Lehman and Dale Farwell discovered through prayer, crystallized His call upon them to launch a community church in the north Arizona Hills.

Returning from the mountain top a second time, they gathered “quartz crystals” to share with those early Anthem area settlers, as a symbol to commemorate their shared dream ...  that of a “Christ-centered church community of communities”.

It was a humble start, that early January of 1999, when the founders of Arizona Hills Community Church launched at Southwestern Bible College.  By August that same year, AZ Hills Community had grown to 30 attendees and relocated temporarily to Deer Valley Middle School.  By December, just over 100 souls worshipped the Lord on Christmas Eve at the Pioneer Village Opera House – a perfect rustic resting spot from which to build a core Anthem area community of believers.

By Easter of 2000, the Lord made it evident that larger quarters were needed, and later that year, the first service in Anthem – at the Anthem Elementary School – was held with 135 devotees.

And the community grew… it grew through worship, prayer, discipleship, Bible study and “pot-lucks”.  It also grew through a focus on missions and community outreach, when the “World Wide Witness” team was launched with seven volunteers supporting six missionaries in 2002.

By January 2005, the Lord had again demonstrated His hand of blessing; a new home at Boulder Creek High School, a thriving Vacation Bible School that summer and, seven years since his mountain top prayers, Bob Lehman serves as our full-time Sr. Pastor along with five other pastors serving our community.

Since its founding, Arizona Hills Community Church has been called by God to be a church transforming community of communities.
